PRACTICAL – If you have planned a stay outside France in August for these summer holidays, you will necessarily have to provide supporting documents related to the Covid-19 pandemic. But which documents precisely? We take stock.

Since July 1, the European health pass, issued to citizens and residents of the EU, is valid in the 27 Member States. Digital evidence certifies a full vaccination, negative test, or recovery from Covid-19. But is this pass enough to travel to Europe? Do I need to present other documents? Summer holidays: the shadow of the coronavirus

For people who are fully vaccinated, “all the countries of the European Union are accessible without restriction. All you have to do is provide a vaccination certificate via the famous QR Code on the phone or even a paper document”, he explains.

A geolocation form for Portugal, Spain and Greece

Be careful, however, if you travel to Portugal, Spain or Greece, whether by plane or by boat, you must also download a geolocation form. A document in which you state where you have resided during the last fifteen days and where you are going to spend your holidays.

A PCR test for the unvaccinated

The procedure is obviously less simple for non-vaccinated people who must present the form, but also a negative test of less than 48 hours or 72 hours, depending on your destination in Europe. To follow the evolution, it is more than recommended to consult the site updated daily by the government.

Special measures in the UK

In the United Kingdom, on the other hand, the situation is special. There, the rule is the same for vaccinated and non-vaccinated: a mandatory ten-day quarantine, upon arrival on site. Measures that the Secretary of State for European Affairs, Clément Beaune describes as disproportionate. “The United Kingdom’s quarantine measures with regard to France: it is excessive and incomprehensible in terms of health”, he reacted on the set of LCI.

The French Secretary of State also regretted that the borders of the United States remain closed to travelers from the EU while American tourists are once again admitted to Europe.

While EU countries have decided to reopen their own borders to Americans, provided they are vaccinated against Covid-19 or test negative, travelers from the Schengen area, the UK and Ireland have not been able to enter the United States since March 2020.
