Around 7 p.m. Sunday evening, three police officers went to Bonneuil-sur-Marne, called to intervene on a motorcycle rodeo bringing together around forty people.
On the spot, the car of the police team was targeted by a firework mortar fire. The driver entered the vehicle through the rear window, which was lowered, causing the driver’s seat to start burning. All three of the police were injured. One received shrapnel in the back and the other two were hit by the blast from the mortar.
Following the shooting, the police used four cougar shots and one LBD 40 shot. Reinforcements were called in. Upon arrival, the participants of the urban rodeo left the scene. Six of them were however arrested and two tubes of fireworks mortars were discovered on the spot and seized for the investigation.
The policeman second-degree burned in the back was taken care of by the emergency services and transported to the intercommunal hospital of Créteil. The other two injured, suffering from pain in their eardrums, went there later that evening. None of them were ultimately hospitalized, but were issued a 10-day work stoppage.
