The fans of “Sendung mit der Maus” have to get used to a new voice in the opening credits. Actress Annette Frier will announce what’s coming in the future. “It will be heard for the first time on October 10th,” announced the Westdeutsche Rundfunk in Cologne on Friday.
“Together with Günter Dybus, who has been announcing the laughter and factual stories since November 12, 1972. After almost 50 years, he is now passing the mouse microphone on to his successor.” The 47-year-old is not a completely new member of the Maus crew. Her voice can already be heard in the “Two-Minute Fairy Tales”, an animated series with short versions of well-known fairy tale subjects, which has been part of the “Sendung mit der Maus” (Sendung with the Mouse) since 2019.
The popular children’s show with many adult fans celebrated its 50th birthday this year. The first “Laughing and Factual Stories” had their television premiere on March 7, 1971. The theme song by Hans Posegga is just as cult as the orange namesake and the blue elephant. However, the mouse was not set from the start, as co-inventor Armin Maiwald recently recalled: A hippopotamus was initially also discussed as a mascot of the format.
