Incidence, death, resuscitation … We take stock of the indicators of the Covid-19 epidemic communicated on Monday, May 31 in the Alpes-Maritimes.

Deaths

The Regional Health Agency reports, in its report published on Monday, 2 new deaths linked to Covid-19 in the department since its previous count, which dated from Friday.

Since the start of the epidemic, the coronavirus has killed 1,966 in the department (448 in nursing homes, 1,518 in hospitals).

Hospitalizations

After a very significant decline in recent weeks, the number of patients in the hospital has stabilized in recent days. This Monday, May 31, 202 patients were simultaneously received in hospitals on the Riviera. Or exactly as much as before the weekend.

69 people were cared for in “conventional hospitalization” (without complications) and 100 in “follow-up and rehabilitation care” (the last step in the process of caring for a Covid-19 patient).

Far, very far from the record of March 28 (136), this Monday there were some 33 patients in intensive care. We have to go back to October 22, before the second confinement, to find a similar figure.

THE INCIDENCE RATE

The desaturation of hospital services is largely due to the drastic drop in the level of contamination on the Côte d’Azur. According to the national public health agency France, the incidence rate – which translates into figures the activity of the virus in a territory – has returned to its lowest level since August 2020.

The indicator fell back below the 50 mark at the beginning of May, and now even below 30. This is equivalent to around forty new cases detected every day in the department.

At the end of February, at the time of the “peak” of this third wave in the department, the indicator was close to 650.

THE RATE OF POSITIVITY

The positivity rate of the tests (percentage of tests that prove to be positive, over seven rolling days) has also returned to an extremely low level – the lowest in the country behind the two Corsican departments. Now, less than 1% of screenings carried out in the department detect the virus.
