Quebec has 324 new cases of COVID-19 and 9 more hospitalizations

Quebec reported Monday 324 new cases of COVID-19 and five additional deaths from the disease, in addition to an increase in hospitalizations.

Of the new cases, 216 are people who were unvaccinated or only received a single dose less than 14 days ago, four had only received a single dose at least two weeks ago and 104 had received a second dose at least seven days ago.

The provincial death toll now stands at 422,995 people infected and 11,477 deaths.

259 hospitalizations were reported on Monday, an increase of nine compared to Sunday. Of these patients, 69 are in intensive care, an increase of four.

Twenty-three people entered the hospital on Sunday. Of these, 18 were unvaccinated or had only received a single dose less than 14 days ago and five had received a second dose at least seven days ago. Of four people who entered intensive care, three were either unvaccinated or had only received a single dose less than 14 days ago and one had received a second dose at least seven days ago.

A total of 20,676 samples were taken on October 23.

Regarding vaccination, 4,178 doses were administered in the last 24 hours in Quebec, for a total of 13,175,853. Outside the province, 213,736 doses were received by Quebecers.

According to the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec, 79.2% of the population has received at least one dose of vaccine against COVID-19. Among those 12 years and older, 90.5% have received at least one dose and 87.6% are adequately vaccinated.
