Irresponsibility has a price to pay. The police issued 1,344 tickets for the non-wearing of the mask in terms of Fixed-penalty to irresponsible and reckless citizens.
Offenders have a period of 28 days to pay the sum of Rs 2000 and if this deadline is not respected, they will be liable to fines of Rs 4000, ie double.

“Despite awareness campaigns on Covid-19 and also the increase in daily contamination, we see the irresponsibility of some people who ignore the non-wearing of a mask. I ask the public to wear their mask properly to avoid being fined with a Fixed-penalty ” Police Press Office inspector Shiva Coothen pointed out. The latter stressed that this offense will appear in the certificate of character.

Note that the Quarantine Act 2020 and the Covid-19 (Regulations 2021) under the Public Health Act have been amended in order to give the police the possibility of drawing up Fixed-penalty notices to the public.
