Rebecca * is a hostess in a retail chain in the Toulouse region. In 2020, she passed her exams with flying colors and obtained her license in real estate. The country is already plunged into its first confinement and the concern arose in the young woman: “I decided to find work very quickly because I felt deep inside that the health situation was going to continue” confides Rebecca. Worried about not being able to continue her studies and categorically refusing distance education, she applied for a major brand. Quickly a CDI is offered to him. “I can say that this job saved me, she recalls. It allowed me to come out of this depression I had fallen into during the first confinement in March. It is what allowed me mentally to regain a taste for life and to feel useful in our society. “

Primarily for her finances, but also for her health, Rebecca chose to remain a hostess during the crisis. But a few days after the announcements of the President of the Republic on July 12, his future darkens. “A meeting was held within our establishment to discuss the future measures to be taken concerning employees,” she explains to La Dépêche. But this meeting concerns only the leaders, the employees will be little informed. “What came out is that the vaccine will be mandatory, assures Rebecca. We will have to have the two doses of vaccine before September 2, 2021 otherwise we will not be accepted in the company. Which will mean an abandonment. post, and will lead, after two months, to dismissal for serious misconduct. ”
A permanent worry
Anger, stress, incomprehension … if most of these colleagues say they are ready to comply with the obligation, Rebecca, she is “lost”. “I clearly feel obligated to be vaccinated for fear of losing my job” she confides, her voice uncertain. “I don’t want to be vaccinated. If I get vaccinated, I want to choose it, to know why I am doing it and not because it is forced on me.”

However, the young woman does not consider herself an “antivax” (an opponent of vaccines): “I do not blame those who are vaccinated either. It is their choice and any decision is respectable, assures the hostess. . But me, I do not want to be vaccinated for the moment because I believe that we do not have enough perspective on the situation and that we are not sufficiently informed on the subject. I prefer to be made redundant than to be vaccinated. “
