From July 16, the Dutch can be vaccinated with the Covid-19 serum from BioNTech / Pfizer, even if they had received the AstraZeneca vaccine during their first injection, the Dutch Minister of Health said, Hugo de Jonge, following the advice of the Dutch Board of Health.

The Health Council ruled on Monday that the administration of the messenger RNA vaccine after that of AstraZeneca was not only possible, but that it protected as well, if not better, than two doses of AstraZeneca.

However, people receiving two different vaccines may have more common side effects, such as fever, fatigue, chills, headache, or muscle pain.

The Health Council also advises against a first injection of Pfizer and a second of AstraZeneca, because this combination offers less protection than two injections of Pfizer.
