Seven new cases of COVID-19 in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean | COVID-19 | News | The Daily

Son Saturday and Sunday, Public Health confirmed 16 and 14 additional cases in the regional territory. No additional deaths were reported on Monday, the total still standing at 269 people who died from the virus in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. Three people are still hospitalized with COVID-19, including one in intensive care.

The variant positivity rate is now 94%. This means that almost all of the cases diagnosed during the last seven days are variants.

Among the seven new infections, there are two in the Local Services Network (RLS) of Chicoutimi and three in that of Jonquière. None were added to the La Baie RLS.

A case was however added in the RLS of Domaine-du-Roy, and another in that of Lac-Saint-Jean Est. The Maria-Chapdelaine RLS recorded no additional cases.

The vaccination campaign is going well in the region. Just over 4,000 doses have been administered in the past few days, for a total of 196,607 so far.

Provincially, over 60% of the population has received one or two doses. On Monday, Public Health reported 276 new cases of coronavirus in Quebec, a marked drop from recent daily reports.
