Chile will have to do without the services of Arturo Vidal for the shock in Argentina on Thursday in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup. The Inter Milan midfielder has tested positive for Covid-19 and even had to be hospitalized.
The medical staff of the selection first indicated that the 34-year-old was no longer training with the group due to tonsillitis. A first statement clarified that the player was positive for Covid-19 and a second announced that he was hospitalized for a “Severe pleural tonsillitis”.
Vidal, who was vaccinated against Covid-19 on Friday along with other players in the Chilean squad, will also not be in the squad that will meet Bolivia five days later at home in Santiago.
