The Prime Minister was visiting the vaccination center of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (Val-de-Marne), accompanied by the Minister of Health, on Monday
Vaccination of adolescents, ex-patients of Covid, and summer campaign: the executive will “move forward” in the week on these issues, said Monday Jean Castex, stressing, however, the need to “go find” the most fragile who are not yet vaccinated.
While the entire major population of France has been eligible for vaccination against Covid-19 since Monday, this “should not distract us from the objective of finding all our fellow citizens who remain the most vulnerable to the disease”, elderly or suffering from comorbidities, underlined the Prime Minister while visiting a vaccination center in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (Val-de-Marne), accompanied by the Minister of Health Olivier Véran. “It is essential”, and “it has always been France’s vaccination strategy: first the most vulnerable, and then everyone,” he insisted.
“A pivotal phase”
With the deployment of vaccination and the decline in the incidence rate of the virus, “we are today in a pivotal phase where the horizon is emerging”, and “this week we are going, after the defense council planned after- tomorrow, move forward on different subjects, ”he said.
He cited three: “the vaccination of children and adolescents over twelve years old”, “the question of the organization of the vaccination campaign during the summer”, and “the question of people who have had the virus, have developed antibodies ”, for which it is necessary“ to know whether or not it is possible, and under what sanitary conditions, to dispense them from a second dose of vaccine ”. The answers to all these questions will be provided “as soon as possible”, he assured.
Jean Castex also called on the French to “respect the progressiveness” of deconfinement, and “not to lower your guard, continue to respect barrier gestures until further notice”, while welcoming “the resumption of economic activities” which suggests that “the recovery is at hand”.
