The new Corona rules for the cultural sector in Vienna mainly affect smaller events.
In Vienna there will soon be a new corona regulation that mainly affects the cultural sector. For smaller events or performances, there will be the option of not requiring a mask if the 2G rule (i.e. vaccinated or recovered in the past six months) is established as an entry requirement. This was announced by City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ) in the “Austria” interview.
Currently, the mode is such that the 2G rule is already in effect for events with 500 or more visitors, as well as in night-time catering. The Vienna State Opera is affected by this. You are only allowed in there if you have just been vaccinated or recovered; you do not have to put on a mask.
Switch from 2.5G to 2G
The 2.5 G rule applies to smaller venues such as cinemas. This means that entry is also possible if one is PCR tested. A mask is required for this.
These organizers are now given the option to switch to 2G mode. A 2Gplus rule, i.e. vaccinated or recovered plus tested, can also be displayed as a prerequisite. You don’t have to wear a mask for this. Of course, it is also possible to stick to the previous mode.
