our selection of tours in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

After a break last year due to the Covid-19 epidemic, Heritage Days return on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September. We offer you a selection of some places that you can visit in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

Heritage days take place on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September everywhere in France. Many places will be exceptionally accessible to the public for the occasion in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

If you are fond of industrial heritage, the SNCF invites you to take a look behind the scenes in the Nièvre, in Nevers and Varennes-Vauzelles.

It will be possible to visit the maintenance workshops, to discover all the trades that allow trains to run. You can also visit the depot and its impressive rotunda. Exceptionally old rolling stock will also be taken out of the garages.

Some parts of the visit, such as the signal box, are only possible by reservation and the schedule is already well filled. More information on the website neverspatrimoineferroviaire.fr

Still on the transport side, you can for example visit the operation and maintenance center for buses and trams in Dijon (Côte-d’Or).

Old stones

Many castles also open their doors to present their history to the curious. This is the case, for example, of the Château de Corbelin in La Chapelle-Saint-André (Nièvre), which we invite you to discover in pictures.

In the Territoire de Belfort, you can approach the Fort de la justice, in Belfort, where an association plans to create gardens. On the occasion of heritage days, she offers a guided tour and will present her project.

In Luxeuil-les-Bains (Haute-Saône), you can rediscover the archaeological site of Saint-Martin, which highlights in the heart of the city the remains of burials from the IVe century.

In Dijon, the major restoration project of the Saint-Bénigne cathedral will be exceptionally accessible to the public.

If you want to get a closer look at your institutions, several prefectures or sub-prefectures exceptionally open their doors. In Dijon, for example, it will be possible on registration to enter the crisis management center.

In Auxerre (Yonne), you can visit the episcopal palace where the State services are located (on registration), and craftsmen will settle in the gardens of the prefecture.

In Chalon-sur-Saône (Saône-et-Loire), the sub-prefecture will make you discover the mansion where it is located. It will also be possible to visit the former premises of the Banque de France. And the mayor himself will invite you to his office at Town Hall.

Exceptional archives

Heritage days are also an opportunity to take out impressive archives from the reserves. This will be the case, for example, in Vesoul (Haute-Saône), Besançon (Doubs) or Mâcon (Saône-et-Loire). In Dijon, the municipal archives will look back on the history of the city since the 12the century by delving into its documents.

This selection is only a small part of the many events planned throughout the weekend in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. You can find the entire program on the website of the Ministry of Culture. More than 1,400 events are thus referenced.

A certain number of events are only accessible by reservation. We invite you to check as soon as possible whether the place you wish to go to imposes such conditions.

To get around, the SNCF is selling a special pass. For 5 euros, it allows you to borrow unlimited TER, but also regional coaches. The pass also works for trams and buses from a number of towns in the region.

Note that it will unfortunately not be possible to visit the premises of France Télévisions in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté on the occasion of these heritage days.
