The new electric brand of Harley-Davidson presented this Thursday, July 8 the LiveWire ONE, its very first electric motorcycle. Much of the aesthetic codes of the first LiveWire, it is distinguished by a price much more affordable than its predecessor.
Launched in 2019, the LiveWire was not really a big success for the American brand. Praised for its performance and style, Harley-Davidson’s first electric motorcycle did not really convince. In question, a selling price too high for a model which aimed primarily at the young generation.
Well aware of the problem, the American manufacturer corrects the situation with the new LiveWire ONE, an electric motorcycle whose style and characteristics largely correspond to those of the original Livewire. The most notable difference comes from the price. While the first LiveWire was priced at $ 29,799 in the US market, this new version is available from $ 21,999. The prices for the French market are not yet known but we imagine the bike to be around 25,000 €, against 33,900 € for the Livewire currently offered by Harley.
235 km of autonomy in the urban cycle
In terms of features and performance, the Livewire ONE is almost identical to the original model. Accumulating 15.5 kWh of capacity, the battery allows up to 235 kilometers in the urban cycle. Engine details were not released but this new Livewire appears to use the same 78 kW block as the original model. The latter allows 177 km / h of maximum speed.
In terms of recharging, the LiveWire combines an alternating current and direct current charging device. Used for fast charging, this allows a charge from 0 to 80% in about 45 minutes.
Not before 2022 in Europe
With the introduction of its new mark, Harley-Davidson introduces a new mode of marketing. Without going through the historical dealers, at least initially, LiveWire opts for online sales. It is currently only open in three US states: California, Texas and New York. The opening to other American states will only take place from the fall.
On international markets, the LiveWire ONE will not be marketed until 2022.
