She is the only woman who is now at the head of a major party in Germany, and she is also a woman who could replace another as chancellor. Annalena Baerbock is the leader of the Greens in Germany. And she is now aiming for the highest position, which would be unprecedented for a developed country: two women who succeed each other at the top of the political spectrum.
During a broadcast on Sunday evening, she announced that it would be necessary “gradually to increase the price of fuels to the tune of 16 cents”, while Germany has already raised taxes by 6 cents at the beginning of the year with a new CO2-related taxation. A declaration which did not fail to react on the German left, the latter fearing that such an increase would put in difficulty the most precarious populations.
The German ecological party also intends to set up a limit to 130 km / h on the motorway, everywhere. This would sign the end of unlimited portions, and would generalize the 130 km / h already in force in limited areas. The German federal elections will take place in September 2021. At their end, the Chancellor will be elected by a majority in the Bundestag.
