ONGOING DISCUSSIONS ON A RECONCILIATION BETWEEN ALD / LEASE PLAN RENTERS

PARIS (Reuters) – Societe Generale and its subsidiary ALD announced on Wednesday that they had started discussions on a merger between the vehicle leasing company and its competitor Lease Plan in order to create a leader in the mobility sector.

“At this stage, there is no certainty that the current discussions can lead to an agreement or a transaction,” Société Générale and ALD said in a brief statement.

Listed on the stock market in June 2017, the ALD group is 79.8% controlled by the French bank. Lease Plan, headquartered in Amsterdam, is for its part held by sovereign funds such as ADIA (Abu Dhabi Investment Authority) and the Singaporean GIC as well as by pension funds.
