An “act of solidarity for the poorest households”: the 5.8 million French households already benefiting from the energy check will receive additional aid of 100 euros, confirms Matignon to actu.fr, this Thursday, September 16, 2020.
The Prime Minister Jean Castex formalized this additional aid during a trip devoted to the MaPrimeRénov ‘device, this Thursday afternoon in Chilly-Mazarin, in Île-de-France.
Who is concerned ?
Concretely, this aid of 100 euros comes complete the energy check sent last spring to part of the population. As a reminder, the energy check, the amount of which can vary between 48 and 277 euros, allows low-income households to participate in energy related expenses : bills for electricity, natural gas, heating oil, wood or liquefied petroleum, for example.
It can also be used to adjust the heating loads “Included in the fees for housing-homes approved for personalized housing assistance (APL),” said the Ministry of Ecological Transition in a press release. Heating costs in nursing homes and long-term care establishments and units are also concerned.
Some energy renovation works are also included in the energy check, recalls the government site service-public.fr, such as the installation of a thermostat or a more efficient electric heater, the insulation of the walls or the performance of an energy audit.
The energy check is awarded under resource conditions. Thus, eligible households must have an annual reference tax income of less than 10,800 euros per unit of consumption (CU) – in a household, one person corresponds to 1 CU, a second to 0.5 CU then each additional person is worth 0 , 3 CU.
With the new evolution of gas prices, at the rate of + 8.7% in September 2021, after several months of increase, as well as the increase in electricity tariffs in August 2021 (+ 0.48% after + 1.6% in February 2021), and the arrival of autumn and winter, the government has split a gesture to help the poorest to pay their energy and heating bills.
The boost will be allocated in a manner Automatique, regardless of the heating method (electricity, fuel oil, gas) of the eligible household, which will not have any particular steps to take.
“The idea was to make it as simple as possible, we wanted to be efficient and fast because the situation requires it today,” said Matignon. This help must arrive ” during the month of December by mail. “
